  WaveJudge 3GPP LTE Analyzer

Diagram of LTE analysis capabilitiesFrom silicon development to carrier deployment, the WaveJudge is an essential tool for development and deployment of LTE solutions. Its flexible architecture enables integrated L1-L3 testing beyond the reach of legacy test platforms.

Its position in the middle of the LTE network and its ability to correlate RF signals with upper-layer messages and content allow significant leaps in problem resolution.

The WaveJudge brings an unprecedented capability to LTE testing — a cross-layer correlation of events that reduces troubleshooting and problem resolution time by an order of magnitude. Now problems that stymied development teams for days can be identified in minutes.

The WaveJudge is operated by a laptop or PC, and connects to the device under test using either RF cable or wirelessly via RF antennae.

Cross Probing: the Information You’ve Been Needing All Along

The power of the WaveJudge as a multilayer passive analysis tool is the insight it provides into the interaction between multiple layers. The WaveJudge offers a unique blend of L1-L3 analysis, allowing the cross probing between layers that troubleshooting often requires.

The WaveJudge provides visual correlation between control messages and the PHY layer transmissions. You can select a control message, identified by timestamp, direction (UL or DL) and message type, and then automatically view the RF transmission on a WaveJudge trace that includes not only Time Domain power but also a 2-D graph of frequency vs. time with logical views.

Cross probing and correlation allow you to quickly and easily:

• Verify changes in power, frequency and timing as the UE enters the network by visually tracking the eNodeB requests and UE responses.
• Analyze UL maps, detect errors and identify resultant transport blocks sent in incorrect frame locations.
• Examine the primary and secondary synchronization signals and the subcarrier energy scheme for transport blocks.
• Reveal timing offset violations by the UE uplink-downlink frame timing.
• Identify resource elements for each resource block within a transport block.
• Visually locate eNodeB scheduling errors through advanced logical views of UL/DL subframe assignments. Obtaining all this information at a single test point also reduces the sources of extraneous anomalies that can cloud results and mask the true root cause.

In the Middle, Not on the Ends

The WaveJudge is positioned in the middle of the LTE network, acting as a wireless network sniffer, capturing and decoding messages as they pass between the base station (eNodeB) and user equipment (UE). This strategic location within the network gives the WaveJudge unprecedented visibility into LTE communications.

Test solutions that emulate endpoints (such as the eNodeB or UE) require replacement of the devices that may be contributing to the problems in communications. In addition, legacy test solutions provide only cursory troubleshooting abilities that often provide insufficient information for problem resolution. Unlike the WaveJudge, they can’t provide information on how the L1-L3 layers interact.

There is no other test equipment that can offer the power, usefulness and value of the WaveJudge. In the fast-developing and competitive world of LTE, Sanjole’s WaveJudge belongs in every LTE business and lab.
